NICE TRY!!!
Jason writes, "I am a
very logical, rational and even skeptical individual - this picture that I
have attached was taken where the tragedy of the Donner Party occurred
during the winter of 1846-1847. Here's a brief summary of their story: at
the beginning of November 1846, a group of California-bound emigrants was
trapped by snow in the Sierra Nevada. By the time the last member reached
safety six months later, nearly half of the 81 men, women, and children had
died of cold and starvation. Many of those who survived had been forced to
resort to cannibalism. The story of the Donner Party is one of the most
fascinating in the history of the American West. More than 150 years later,
the saga of how a group of ordinary people struggled almost to their
journeys and only to encounter greater hardship, even death, continues to
intrigue visitors year-round. This past Tuesday, I was walking along a trail
in the Donner Memorial State Park not far from Reno, Nevada where I was on a
monitoring visit - I took this photo on the trail in the park - I was
completely alone....I stopped to take a picture of the trail in the
sunlight.... I made a mental note of how quiet and peaceful it was being
there by myself...I have no idea who this child is...or how he/she got into
the picture... I would have easily noticed and remembered any person that
was near me...Hope you can figure this out....I can't... Bottom right-hand
corner of the picture - a child looking back at me... I don't believe this
happened...there's got to be a logical explanation for it."

notes
Photos in this section are the ones that did not pass our test. We're not saying
they are deliberate fakes but in our opinion, photos in this section (Nice
Try!), are most likely camera flaws, developing errors or in some cases,
deliberate manipulation. In other words, they look great but we're not qualifying them as ghost
photos.
Fun to look at and learn from though! : )
